12-month Performance

12/09/1998 to 11/09/1999, Switzerland

The minimization and ritualising of elementary basic human needs was central to the artistic interests of the 12 Month Performance of Thomas Zollinger. Elementary life and artistic acts like eating, drinking, peeing, shitting, sleeping, speaking, sound making, loving, walking, moving, sitting, lying, dancing, standing were repeated or ritualised daily, weekly or every month. The whole performance included appointments at the social welfare office, specific rituals, as well as a series of 24-hour structures in interaction to art or performance meetings. The artist was the spider in a continually built network of inwardly and outwardly knotted concepts, performances, events, people, documented with video and in a catalogue of 144 published or public events.
